The Nigerian Union of journalists (N.U.J) has honored the governor of kogi state, Gov. Yahayah Bello with a distinguished role model award in education for his outstanding achievement in education in the state in the last four years. National president of the Nigerian Union of Journalists , Crusis Gusu said the governor was singled out by the award committee out of the 36 governors after a painstaking assessment of each states in the education sector. The Kogi governor also assured the visiting journalist that his administration would continue to encourage freedom of the press in kogi state.
“Apart from recognizing political actors that have done well in press freedom, we also take time out to single political leaders that have by their own actions made enormous contributions across sectors. For Gov. Yahayah Bello today we singled him out because of what he’s done massive transformation is brought to the education sector”.

Governor Yahaya Bello said in his speech with the press that he will continue to guarantee the freedom of journalism in Kogi State. “We are not perfect, I urge you that anytime you see is doing anything wrong draw our attention to it.
